Job summary

Louisville City School District seeks a Substitute School Nurse to provide health services across Elementary, Middle, and High School settings under the direction of the licensed school nurse and building administrator.

Requirements include a valid LPN/RN license issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing, CPR/First Aid training, and experience with children. Knowledge of medications and confidentiality is essential; Ohio Educational Aide Permit or equivalent is required or obtainable.

Qualifications

• Valid LPN/RN license issued by the Ohio Board of Nursing.
• Experience working with children.
• CPR and First Aid Training.
• Hold or be able to obtain an Ohio Educational Aide Permit and be ESEA qualified by the Ohio Department of Education or hold similar license through nursing qualifications.
• Basic knowledge of prescription and nonprescription medications.
• Ability to problem solve and maintain a professional attitude.
• Maintain confidentiality of student health information.
• Support the district's educational mission and public relations.
• Follow board policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Assist with toileting needs.
• Administer first aid to ill or injured children.
• Report suspected child abuse or serious illness/injuries according to procedures.
• Assist with communicable disease control including head lice inspections.
• Administer medications per board policy.
• Assist with health screenings, scheduling, record keeping, and supplies.
• Record health information in student health records.
• Maintain electronic student immunization records.
• Maintain confidential health rosters and plans.
• Provide specialized health care services as trained (e.g., diabetes management).
• Ensure confidentiality of student records and sensitive information.
• Perform clerical duties and data entry.
