Job Overview: The Substitute School Nurse works directly with students and staff members to provide health related services during the school day.

Qualifications:

• Current Registered Nurse licensure in the State of Illinois
• Current First Aid and Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation program completed
• Prior nursing experience in a school environment is preferred
• School Nurse Certification preferred
• Express good judgment and ability to maintain the confidentiality of employees, students and families
• Possess strong oral and written communication skills as well as organizational and technology skills

Duties:

• Create and maintain a professional and service oriented atmosphere in the Health clinic area
• Provide professional direct nursing care and emergency assistance to students and staff as needed
• Supervise and/or administer medications
• Record attendance and clinic visit notes
• Contact the parents of students who are injured or ill
• Ability to interact and work with a diverse population, including students, parents, faculty and staff
