Job summary

Lucia Mar Unified School District is seeking a Substitute Library Technician to operate and promote the school library/media center and assist students and staff in using the library resources.

The role requires a high school diploma, clerical experience, and the ability to communicate in Spanish. Training in library technology is preferred, with experience in working with groups of children and familiarity with library media systems.

Qualifications

• High school graduation or its equivalent.
• Some office or library clerical experience.
• Ability to speak and write effectively; research and retrieve information using computer technology; work independently; work calmly and accurately under pressure and with frequent interruptions; establish and maintain cooperative relationships.
• Certificate of Proficiency in Library Technology or courses in library technology from a community college.
• Some experience in working with groups of children/young people.
• Knowledge of library media systems and practices including the care and operation of instructional media and equipment; children's/young people's literature and the basic curriculum; use of technology in searching and using information which may include computers, CD-ROM, video and telecommunications.
• Keyboarding ability.
• Ability to communicate verbally in Spanish.
