Job summary

Olympia School District is seeking a Substitute Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and attractive facility and to support meetings, classroom activities, and events. The role requires lifting and physical duties, with shifts primarily 11:00 am–7:00 pm and typical daytime adjustments as needed.

The position emphasizes following safety practices, working with staff, and performing duties per the shift custodial work plan.

Qualifications

• Experience preferred: prior job-related experience in school or institutional setting.
• Skills, knowledge and abilities: custodial power equipment operation, cleaning agents, math for dilution, safe work practices.
• Able to stand for prolonged periods, follow instructions, work independently, lift 50 lbs., climb ladders.

Responsibilities

• Arranges furnishings and equipment for meetings, classroom activities and events.
• Cleans school and administration facilities to maintain sanitary, safe and attractive environment.
• Informs students, staff and supervisor about activities, safety and maintenance.
• Performs duties as described in the shift custodial work plan and other duties as assigned to maintain facility.
• Secures facilities and grounds to minimize damage and ensure safety at work site.
• Assists other personnel as needed to support their work activities.
• Repairs furniture and equipment to ensure items are available and safe.
• Requests equipment and supplies to maintain inventory and facility needs.
