Job summary

Conway Public School District is seeking a Registered Nurse to oversee the school health care program in accordance with state and district guidelines. The RN will supervise licensed practical nurses where applicable, manage medication administration, and maintain student health records.

This 187-day contract requires CPR certification and experience with children; Arkansas RN licensure is required. Candidates should have strong communication and basic computer skills to support health services

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Oversees administration of medications following state and district guidelines.
• Maintains records related to student care.
• Assists students with health-related needs, including self-care tasks.
• Supervises training and supervision of paraprofessionals and other staff on student health needs.
• Coordinates medical information among parents, school, and medical providers.
• Evaluates student injuries and performs first aid when needed.
• Develops and implements health care plans and immunization programs.
• Coordinates required screenings as per Arkansas Board of Education.

• Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation certified


• Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Instructor certification preferred


• Minimum two years experience as a registered nurse


• Possesses the ability to work with children; experience with children preferred.

School licensed practical nurse, where applicable, in conjunction with the building administration

Terms Of Employment

The contract length will be 187 days.

Evaluation

Based on local district policy and performed by the building principal who is assisted by the assistant principal in regard to evaluations.

Job Goal

The Registered Nurse will oversee the successful implementation of the school health care program in accordance with all applicable state and District guidelines.

Performance Responsibilities

• Follows and maintains knowledge of all District policies and procedures.


• Oversees the duties of the licensed practical nurse, when applicable.


• Supervises the administration of medications following state and District guidelines.


• Maintains records related to student care.


• Assists students with any health-related needs, including self-care needs such as hygiene, toileting, catheterization, blood glucose monitoring, nutrition, tube feeding, etc.


• Oversees the training and supervision of paraprofessionals and other staff members who assist with student health-related needs


• Interacts thoughtfully and courteously with students, staff, and parents/guardians; resolves conflict in a professional manner.


• Oversees the coordination of medical information among the parent, the school, and the medical provider.


• Supervises a variety of student activities, including playground, cafeteria, bus loading and unloading, field trips, hallways, and other areas where students gather.


• Maintains secure confidential records, information, and inquiries.


• Evaluates student injuries, determines course of action, performs first aid.


• Completes and maintains communication logs with staff and parents, if appropriate.


• Participates in the development and implementation of health care plans.


• Oversees the maintenance of the immunization program.


• Coordinates and performs all screenings required by the Arkansas Board of Education.


• Other duties, as assigned.
