Job summary

Front Range Community College (FRCC) is seeking a Substitute Reference Librarian for the Westminster Campus. The role involves providing reference and circulation services to FRCC and Westminster Public Library patrons, and stepping in as in-charge when full-time librarians are unavailable.

The position requires a Master’s in Library and Information Science (or within 6 months of hire) and experience in reference and circulation in either public or academic libraries. Weekend shifts are common.

Job Summary

As the Substitute Librarian, you provide both reference and circulation services to the Front Range Community College (FRCC) community and the patrons from the Westminster Public Library – WPL (located directly below the FRCC Library). When the full-time FRCC librarians are unavailable, you will serve as the person in-charge and may supervise work study students when needed. In addition, some knowledge of conversational Spanish is highly desirable for this position.

Substitutes will usually work a 4-hour shift and are mainly needed on weekends from 1-5pm. However, there will be times that a substitute will be needed for a longer shift or during the week when the full-time FRCC Librarians are not available.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Give excellent customer service to both the FRCC and WPL communities.
• Assist with daily library operations with the FRCC Library.
• Handle reference and circulation transactions.
• Manage the floor when no full-time FRCC Librarian is present.

Minimum Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Library and Information Science.

OR

• Ability to earn Master’s degree in Library and Information Science within 6 months of hire.

AND

• Reference and circulation experience in either a public or academic library setting.

Selection Process
