Job description

SUBSTITUTE CERTIFICATE REQUIRED

Year-Round Position: Covering Time Off and On Call for unplanned Sick Days. Shifts range, Monday to Friday between 7:30am and 6pm depending on what classroom you are covering.

During school hours (7:30am - 3:30pm):

1. Assist with the arrival and dismissal of children.
2. Assist the Lead Teacher with activities.
3. Assist with care of the children including using the bathroom.
4. Assist with classroom management.

After school hours (2pm - 6pm):

1. Plan afternoon activities to create a peaceful environment, including music and movement, playing outside, crafts, reading stories, art, games, etc.
2. Create weekly, seasonal art projects.
3. Interact with the children during playtime, including Legos and board games, dancing during music, and reading stories.
4. Greet parents upon arrival to pick up their children.
5. Act as a liaison between the head teacher and parents, communicating any important information for the day.
6. Communicate any important aftercare happenings to morning teachers via note, phone, email, or text.
7. Clean up and prepare classrooms and restrooms for the next day.

NJ Substitute Certificate Required
