Job summary

Therapy Source is seeking a part-time Substitute Paraprofessional to provide in-person support for charter school students in Newark. The role is for the remainder of the current school year and requires flexibility with scheduling and last-minute sub coverage.

Responsibilities include assisting teachers, adapting activities for students with disabilities, and implementing IEP-driven instructions and behavioral plans, with a commitment to safe, respectful classroom environments.

Qualifications

• Possession of (or willingness to obtain) up-to-date clearances.
• Proof of individual professional liability insurance (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to lift and carry orders and deliveries short distances.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Experience in a school environment.

Responsibilities

• Adapt classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the teacher for students with disabilities or special needs to participate in classroom activities.
• Implement academic instruction taught by a teacher for individuals or small groups to meet learning goals per IEP/district benchmarks.
• Implement behavioral plans designed by IEP team and document progress.
• Participate in communication between school and home per a student's IEP.
• Confer with teachers regularly to evaluate progress and implement IEP objectives.
• Assist other staff members as needed to support their work activities.
• When not supporting the department as a Dedicated Aide, support teachers, substitute teach as needed, and perform administrative duties.
• Commit to environmentally sustainable business practices.
• Other duties as assigned.

Paraprofessional Salary Range:

$24-$26 per hour

Paraprofessional Position Details:

• Must have flexibility with schedule
  • Availability last minute for sub coverages within Newark is highly preferred
  • Some coverages will be planned ahead and the others day of
• Must be comfortable with all behaviors and age ranges, as coverage needs can vary

Paraprofessional Essential Attributes

• Adapt classroom activities, assignments and/or materials under the direction of the teacher for the purpose of providing an opportunity for students with disabilities or special needs to participate in classroom activities.
• Implement academic instruction taught by a teacher for individuals or small groups for the purpose of meeting learning goals, as described by an IEP and/or district benchmarks.
• Implement behavioral plans designed by IEP team for students with behavior disorders or other special conditions; document progress.
• Participate, as appropriate, in communication between school and home per a student's IEP.
• Confer with teachers on a regular basis for the purpose of assisting in evaluating the progress of students with disabilities or special needs and/or implementing IEP objectives.
• Assist other staff members as may be required for the purpose of supporting them in the completion of their work activities.
• When not supporting the department as a Dedicated Aide, you'll be required to: Support teachers as an additional instructor in the classroom; Teach courses and/or substitute teach as the sole instructor as necessary; and perform administrative duties for the department.
