Employment Status: Part-Time (as assigned)

Position Summary

The Paraprofessional assists certified teachers in providing instructional, behavioral, and personal support to students in a safe, positive, and inclusive learning environment. The position works with individual students or small groups to reinforce lessons, promote academic success, and support students with diverse learning needs.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Assist teachers with classroom instruction and daily learning activities.
• Work one-on-one or with small groups of students to reinforce academic concepts.
• Support students with special education needs, accommodations, and individualized education programs (IEPs) as directed.
• Monitor student behavior and encourage positive social interactions.
• Help maintain a safe, organized, and productive classroom environment.
• Assist with classroom preparation, instructional materials, and technology.
• Supervise students during lunch, recess, field trips, arrival, dismissal, or other assigned activities.
• Provide personal care assistance to students when required, including mobility, toileting, feeding, or hygiene, in accordance with district policies.
• Maintain confidentiality regarding student records and information.
• Communicate effectively with teachers, administrators, and other staff regarding student progress and concerns.
• Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising teacher or administrator.

Qualifications

• Associate degree, completion of two years of college coursework in education, or passing a state-approved paraprofessional assessment. (Para-Pro Exam)
• Experience working with children in an educational or childcare setting preferred.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism.
• Basic computer and technology skills.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25–50 pounds, as required.
• Ability to assist students with mobility and daily living activities when necessary.
• Ability to supervise students indoors and outdoors.

Work is performed in classrooms, school buildings, playgrounds, cafeterias, and other school settings. The position may involve exposure to noise, frequent interaction with students, and occasional behavioral challenges.
