Job summary

Paramus Public Schools is seeking a Substitute Hourly Janitor for district-wide coverage, with the goal of keeping the school environment safe, clean, and welcoming for students, staff, and community members. This position operates on an as-needed basis to support the district throughout the 2026-2027 school year.

• Sufficient strength, agility, and dexterity to perform required tasks.
• Knowledge of methods, materials, and equipment used in custodial work.
• Demonstrated aptitude for successful fulfillment of assigned performance responsibilities.
• Must possess a Black Seal Fireman's License for boiler operation or be willing to obtain one within one year of employment.

Employment Terms

Substitute Janitors are needed district-wide to be used on an as needed basis.

• No medical benefits;
• At‑will position; not associated with any collective bargaining association

Reports To

Principal and/or Building Supervisor/Head Custodian

Requirements

• New Jersey resident or willingness to relocate
• Controlled substance testing and successful completion of criminal history background check are required of all applicants offered employment.
• Fluent in spoken and written English.

Performance evaluated annually in accordance with the provisions of the Board's policy on evaluation
