Job summary

Pikeville Independent Districtwide is seeking a Substitute Instructional Assistant to support certificated teachers in delivering instruction to individuals or small groups, often with exceptional students. You will monitor progress, organize materials, and help maintain classroom records in a fast-paced educational environment.

The role involves classroom assistance, transport of students, and collaboration with parents and the student services team.

Qualifications

Basic subjects taught in district schools, including arithmetic, grammar, spelling, language and reading.
Safe practices in classroom and playground activities.
Correct English usage, grammar, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.
Interpersonal skills using tact, patience and courtesy.
Basic record-keeping techniques.

Responsibilities

Tutor individuals or small groups, reinforce instruction as directed by the teacher.
Participate on instructional teams and coordinate with parents and staff.
Transport students to activities and assist in preparation for treatment.
Prepare and organize lessons as directed by the teacher.
Assist in administering diagnostic tests; monitor student behavior and progress.
Perform routine clerical duties and maintain classroom records.
