Position Details

Title: INSTRUCTIONAL AIDE

Responsible To: Building Principal

Basic Function

The Teacher Aide works under the supervision of the teacher to assist in directing student learning and enforcing school policies.

Performance Responsibilities

• Works with small groups to reinforce learning.
• Performs clerical duties.
• Guides independent, enrichment, and remedial work.
• Uses audio-visual media.
• Assists with instructional and non-instructional duties.
• Checks notebooks, corrects papers, supervises testing.
• Assists in drill work and special areas like the library.
• Develops strategies for reinforcing skills tailored to individual students.
• Supports substitute teachers in the absence of the regular teacher.
• Works as part of a team under the teacher's supervision.
• Records attendance and academic progress, consulting with the teacher before recording grades.
• Participates in training and faculty activities.
• Performs health-related duties as instructed by health professionals.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and passing Paraeducator Test.

Terms of Employment

Salary is based on the approved salary schedule. Contracts are issued annually.

Evaluation

Performance is evaluated per board policy for classified staff.
