Job summary

MSAD 75 is seeking a District-Wide Substitute Custodian to join our educational community in Maine. Hours include daytime and nighttime shifts with no minimum hour guarantees. The pay rate for 2026-2027 is $25.48/hour.

Responsibilities include maintaining facilities, setting up events, and supporting building operations outside regular hours. Candidates should have a High School diploma or GED and strive for reliability, safety, and good public interaction.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED/HiSET is required.
• Prior custodial or maintenance experience is desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills and reliability are essential.
• Ability to perform physical tasks and operate custodial equipment.
• CHRC clearance required by Maine DOE.

Responsibilities

• Complete maintenance of assigned work areas in buildings and on grounds.
• Maintain daily work schedule; unlock/secure doors, manage lights, check heating/ventilation, clean floors and bathrooms.
• Set up and take down for events and functions.
• Serve as contact for users of facilities outside normal hours.
• Remove snow, salt and sand walkways as needed.
• Hours and location may vary based on District needs.
• Other duties as assigned.

MSAD 75 is seeking a District-Wide Substitute Custodian to join our vibrant educational community.

HOURS: Both daytime and nighttime hours available (work as needed, no guarantee of minimum hours)

2026-2027 PAY RATE: $25.48/hour

Essential Functions

• Complete maintenance of assigned work areas in buildings and on grounds.
• Maintain daily work schedule; including, but not limited to, unlocking and securing doors, controlling lights, daily checks of systems for heat and ventilation, emptying wastebaskets, sweeping, mopping, washing and waxing floors, vacuuming, dusting and cleaning bathrooms.
• Set-up and take-down for special events and functions.
• Act as a contact for individuals and groups using school facilities outside normal school hours.
• Remove snow, salt and sand walkways when necessary.
• Hours and location may vary/change based on District’s needs.
• Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED/HiSET.
• Prior experience in custodial or maintenance work desirable.
• Strong interpersonal skills. Must work well with students, staff and the public.
• Must be dependable and reliable.
• Physical ability to perform physical requirements of the position.
• Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a variety of custodial equipment.
• Constant mental alertness to maintain safe working practices.
• Valid Maine Department of Education Criminal History Records Check (CHRC)
