Job Summary

Title: Substitute Custodian
Location: North Providence Public Schools, North Providence, Rhode Island
Starting Date: Immediately
Schedule: Hours will vary
Hourly Rate: $18.00 per hour

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assume responsibility for the appearances and function of the assigned building and grounds.
  • Complete daily cleaning and monitor upkeep of all areas, including, but not limited to, hallways, offices, classrooms, restrooms, etc.
  • Empty, clean and reline all wastebaskets throughout the building.
  • Replace lightbulbs as needed.
  • Replace soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc., as needed.
  • Sweep, scrub, wax and burnish floors as needed.
  • Assist in locking and securing buildings.
  • Assist school personnel as requested.
  • Routinely inspect all areas for possible safety hazards and address them appropriately.
  • Snow removal and apply salt to slippery surfaces as needed.
  • Monitor custodial supplies (inventory/orders).
  • Monitor and respond to District-related email communications.
  • Complete mandatory trainings as assigned through the District’s Learning Management System (LMS) in a timely manner.
  • Additional duties as assigned by the Building Principal and/or Facilities Manager.

If offered a position with North Providence Public Schools, you are required to obtain a national criminal background check with fingerprinting obtained at the State Attorney General's Office.

If your background check is returned and acceptable for employment, you will be asked to return to complete onboarding paperwork to include the "Employment Eligibility Verification, USCIS I-9" as required by the Department of Homeland Security. Here you will attest to your employment authorization and must also provide acceptable documents evidencing identity and employment authorization.
