Job summary

Dunlap School District #323 is seeking substitutes for the Cook position district-wide across eight schools. The Cook assists in implementing the school meal program and supports the Head Cook in daily food preparation and service.

Candidates should follow recipes, maintain sanitary kitchen areas, and handle payments. Training occurs at the start of each school year; this role reports to the Director of Food Services.

Qualifications

• Education level sufficient to meet performance requirements.
• Experience in food services preferred.

Pay Rate: $16.00

Reports to: Director of Food Services

Position Objective

The Cook assists in the implementation of the assigned school meal program.

Essential Functions

• Performs various duties for food preparation efficiently and timely as assigned by the Head Cook
• Cleans utensils, equipment and storage, food preparation and serving areas daily for the purpose of maintaining sanitary conditions, as assigned by the Head Cook
• Collects payments daily on food items from students and staff for the purpose of completing transactions and/or securing funds
• Attends training at the start of each school year to monitor students’ food choices daily for the purpose of meeting mandated meal component requirements and ensuring adequate nutrition for USDA meal reimbursements. Failure to comply could result in loss of reimbursement from the USDA
• Complies with all food safety requirements, including wardrobe, handwashing, and hair net requirements

Qualifications

• Education level and knowledge sufficient to meet performance requirements of position
• Previous food services experience preferred
