Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and serve breakfast and/or lunch following established menus and standardized recipes.
  • Assist with food preparation, cooking, portioning, and meal service.
  • Follow all federal, state, and local regulations regarding school nutrition programs.
  • Ensure food is prepared, handled, and served in accordance with food safety and sanitation standards.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and organized kitchen, serving, and storage areas.
  • Wash dishes, utensils, cookware, and kitchen equipment.
  • Receive, inspect, and properly store food and supplies as directed.
  • Complete required food production and temperature records.
  • Assist with accommodating approved special dietary needs as directed.
  • Provide courteous and professional service to students, staff, and visitors.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding student and employee information.
  • Follow the direction of the Food Service Director or designated kitchen supervisor.
  • Demonstrate flexibility by working in various school kitchens as needed.
  • Assist with special events and catering activities when assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

SUMMARY

The Substitute Cook is responsible for assisting with the preparation and service of nutritious, appealing meals for students and staff while maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient kitchen environment. Working on an as-needed basis, the Substitute Cook follows established menus, food safety guidelines, and district procedures to ensure high-quality meal service and support the daily operation of the school nutrition.

  • Reports to the Food Service Director

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
