Job description

What We're Building

Mansfield Hall is a living and learning community for neurodivergent college students, students who are capable of college but not yet fully ready for total independence. We organize the work around four areas: Living (independent living skills), Learning (academic and executive functioning), Giving (community involvement), and Engaging (social and emotional growth). Coaches are how all four of those actually happen. Not in a classroom, in the moment, every day.

What You'll Actually Do
  • Provide direct coaching and support to residential students as they navigate daily schedules, in Community Engagement, Academic, or Connections Coach shifts as coverage is needed
  • Support students' individualized Student MAPs, and help build social, independent living, and community engagement skills
  • De-escalate emotional situations and address well-being concerns as they come up
  • Facilitate positive social interactions in common spaces, during meals, and at community activities
  • Document progress using our tracking systems, with a same-day handoff so you're never walking in blind
  • Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on student support
Why This Might Not Be the Job for You
  • You'd rather solve a problem for a student than coach them through solving it themselves
  • You're most comfortable in quiet, predictable work with limited interruptions
  • You're uncomfortable addressing interpersonal conflict or emotions in the moment
  • You have difficulty setting professional boundaries or giving clear, direct feedback
  • You want deep, continuous relationships with the same students over time. This role moves across different coaching contexts as coverage is needed, with a same-day handoff rather than a long ramp-up each time
What You Bring
  • Bachelor's degree in behavioral sciences, psychology, education, social work, or a related field
  • At least one year of direct experience coaching, mentoring, tutoring, or supporting students or young adults
  • Comfort making sound decisions independently while also communicating and collaborating with a team
  • Capacity to support up to 50 students in a residential setting
  • Reliability and flexibility to step into a shift on relatively short notice
Compensation & Benefits

This role pays $22/hr. As an as-needed role, eligibility for the benefits below may differ from full-time coaches:

  • Medical insurance, with the premium cost shared between Mansfield Hall and the employee, plus an HSA option
  • Employer-funded wellness dollars
  • Free meals and drinks during your shift
  • 401(k) retirement plan with a 4% employer match
  • Paid time off, plus paid winter break
  • Disability and life insurance coverage
  • Work expense reimbursement
