Job summary

Waypoint Services For Women Children and Families is seeking a part-time Substitute Teacher to provide a safe, engaging environment for children ages 6 weeks to 5 years. The role offers a flexible schedule and opportunities to impact early development.

Starting pay is $14.50/hour with hours Monday–Friday 6:30AM–5:45PM; shifts are variable and will be posted weekly based on program needs and candidate availability.

Qualifications

• Be at least 16 years old.
• High school diploma or GED (or in progress).
• Childcare experience is preferred, not required – training can be provided.
• Have reliable transportation and a strong commitment to being on time.
• Be willing and able to complete required trainings (CPR/First Aid, Mandatory Reporter, etc.).

• Lead fun, age-appropriate activities and learning experiences that keep kids engaged.
• Support children’s social, emotional, and physical development.
• Build positive relationships with children, families, and team members.
• Use positive guidance to encourage good behavior and problem-solving.
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom.
• Assist with daily routines including meals, hygiene, and transitions.
• Communicate with families and team members.
• Help maintain required documentation and licensing standards.

What You’ll Need

To be successful in this role, you should:

• Be at least 16 years old
• Have a high school diploma or GED (or in progress)
• Have childcare experience (preferred, not required – we’re happy to train the right person)
• Have reliable transportation and a strong commitment to being on time
• Feel confident interacting with children and communicating with parents
• Be willing and able to complete required trainings (CPR/First Aid, Mandatory Reporter, etc.)
• Be able to stay active throughout your shift and lift up to 50 lbs.
• Have the ability to meet background check and health screening requirements
