Job summary

Brainerd Public Schools is seeking a Substitute Transportation Education Assistant to support morning, mid-day, and afternoon bus routes district-wide. The role focuses on safe student transport and supervising students with disabilities throughout the route.

The position requires a high school diploma with preferred ParaPro or college credits; experience with disabilities is valued. Compensation is $15.00 per hour, ESST/sick leave eligibility, and a strong emphasis on safety and confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma required; 60 college credits or ParaPro exam preferred.
• Experience working with or exposure to persons with disabilities is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clearly articulate expectations to students.
• Apply common sense reasoning with behavioral situations.
• Develop and maintain effective relationships with students, staff and community.
• Attend assignments regularly and on time.
• Assist students on the bus; buckle seat belts and secure seats.
• Supervise students for safe transport to and from home.
• Observe bus rider rules and monitor student behavior.
• Know emergency equipment locations and how to use the 2-way radio.
• Prepare required forms; maintain a roster with student information.
• Keep student information confidential; participate in annual training.
