Job summary

Jefferson County Schools in West Virginia is seeking a Substitute Bus Operator to transport students safely to and from school, operating buses from 15 to 92 passengers and keeping a clean, mechanically sound vehicle. You will work as needed under WV policies and JCBOE guidelines.

Candidates must hold a WV CDL with passenger and school bus endorsements, have a clean driving record, complete the WV School Bus Safety Program, and pass required online and skills tests, medical exam, and

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have at least 3 years of driving experience as a licensed operator.
• Must obtain and maintain WV CDL license with passenger and school bus endorsements.
• Must pass WV School Bus Safety Program and requisite tests.
• Must pass medical examination and drug/alcohol screening.
• Must maintain a clean driving record with no accidents or violations.
• Ability to operate 15- to 92-passenger buses and communicate with passengers and dispatch.

Responsibilities

• Operate a bus safely and efficiently to transport passengers to destinations.
• Adhere to traffic laws and school bus regulations.
• Perform pre/post trip inspections and maintain a clean bus interior.
• Assist and supervise students, including those with disabilities.
• Communicate with students, parents, school officials and dispatch as needed.
