Job summary

Benton Community School District is seeking substitute/temporary bus drivers to cover routes as needed. The district covers 330 square miles with 18 regular routes and will help candidates obtain necessary CDL endorsements and certifications.

Applicants must pass a knowledge test and driving skills test for school bus operation, pass a background check, and maintain a clean driving record. Transportation Director Tim Lyons serves as the point of contact.

Benton Community is a large rural school district with 8 communities covering 330 square miles. There are currently 18 regular bus routes in the school district.

SUBSTITUTE BUS DRIVERS The Benton CSD is seeking SUBSTITUTE/TEMPORARY BUS DRIVERS. Benton Community is located in east central Iowa in close proximity to Cedar Rapids. Benton Community is a large rural school district with 8 communities covering 330 square miles. There are currently 18 regular bus routes in the school district.

To drive a school bus in Iowa, you'll need to obtain a commercial driver's license (CDL) with passenger and school bus endorsements. This means you must complete all of the standard CDL licensing requirements, including passing additional knowledge tests on how to safely transport passengers on a school bus. An air brake endorsement is also needed if you are asked to drive a bus equipped with air brakes.
