Job summary

Oak Harbor Public Schools is looking for Substitute Bus Drivers to transport students to and from school and district activities. Your responsibilities will include monitoring behavior, correcting student behavior, and performing safety checks on the bus.

This position requires excellent driving skills, independence, and effective communication. There are no guaranteed hours or benefits as work is based on employee absenteeism. Training will be provided by the district.

Qualifications

  • Skill in defensive driving; ability to take evasive action to avoid collisions as necessary.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to make quick and effective decisions with no supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Operate a school bus to transport students to and from school.
  • Monitor behavior and discipline students on the bus.
  • Perform daily checks to ensure bus safety.

GENERAL FUNCTIONS

Substitute Bus Drivers operate a school bus to transport students to and from school along designated routes and/or on trips to district approved activities. Responsibilities include monitoring behavior and disciplining students while they are on the bus, and performing daily checks to ensure that the bus is in safe operating condition. Work is based on employee absenteeism and there are no guaranteed hours or benefits. Training is required and offered by the district on an occasional basis.
