• Operate a school bus safely and efficiently, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
• Transport students to and from designated locations according to established routes and schedules.
• Ensure the safety and well-being of students during transportation, including assisting with boarding and disembarking.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the vehicle to ensure it is in safe operating condition.
• Maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, and any incidents that occur during transportation.
• Communicate effectively with school personnel regarding any changes to routes or schedules.
• Respond to emergencies and handle difficult situations with professionalism and care.
• Attend training sessions and meetings as required to stay updated on safety protocols and operational procedures.
• Assist with maintaining cleanliness and organization of the bus garage and vehicles.

Requirements

• Valid commercial driver's license (CDL) with appropriate endorsements for operating a bus.
• Clean driving record with no major violations or accidents in the past three years.
• Previous experience driving a bus or similar vehicle preferred, but not required.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening as mandated by state and federal regulations.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to interact positively with students, parents, and staff.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to remain calm under pressure.
• Flexibility to work varying shifts, including early mornings and afternoons.
