Positions for Substitute Bus Drivers have been declared open in the Weber School District transportation department. These are on-call positions for 4.75 hours per day, 9 months per year. Applicants may apply at wsd.tedk12.com/hire.
Purpose Statement
The job of a bus driver was established to transport students over scheduled routes and to/from special excursions; ensure the vehicle is in safe operating condition; and ensure students' safety during transport, loading, unloading from buses, and any emergency evacuation.

Job Requirements
Specific skill-based competencies required to perform the job's functions satisfactorily include adhering to safety practices, administering first aid, operating district vehicles used in transporting students, operating fire extinguishers, two-way communication radios, etc., and preparing and maintaining accurate records.
Specific knowledge-based competencies required to perform the functions of the job satisfactorily include safety practices and procedures, State Motor Vehicle Code and Education Code sections applicable to student transportation, city streets, and locations, essential preventive maintenance of Weber School District vehicles, emergency evacuation techniques for regular and special education students including medically fragile, and CPR and basic first aid.
Specific ability-based competencies required to perform the job functions satisfactorily include communicating with diverse groups, adapting to changing work priorities, meeting deadlines and schedules, working as part of a team, and setting priorities.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities include working under direct supervision, using standardized routines, leading, guiding, and coordinating others, and operating within a defined budget. Utilization of some resources from other work units may be required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to impact the organization's services significantly.
Working Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling, some climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and crawling, and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 80% sitting, 10% walking, and 10% standing. The job is performed under some temperature extremes and conditions with some exposure to the risk of injury and illness.

Education
Substitutes who terminate their services with Weber School District are requested to submit a resignation notice to Human Resources via Employee Online. If written resignation is not received and a substitute is inactive for 365 days, they will be terminated as a substitute. The employee may re-apply the following school year if removed from the substitute pool due to inactivity. Rehiring will be based on Weber School District's hiring needs.
