Job description

The Ocosta School District in Westport, CT, is accepting applications for Substitute Bus Drivers for the 2024/25 school year. The role involves operating school buses in various weather conditions, transporting students and authorized persons over established routes, and participating in field, co-curricular, and special activity trips as authorized by school district administration.

Desired Qualifications
  • High School Diploma
  • Valid First Aid Card
  • Current Washington State Commercial Driver's License (CDL), or ability to obtain one
  • Successful completion of Washington State Patrol background and fingerprint check
  • Ability to inspect and clean school buses and related equipment
  • Maintain control of student passengers and report unsafe acts or conditions
  • Complete required forms, records, and reports
  • Complete school bus driver training programs and courses
  • Operate a school bus in accordance with Washington State laws and policies
  • Operate all school bus equipment and accessories
  • Perform safety inspections and bus cleaning/servicing
  • Operate all controls as per Washington State School Bus Specifications
  • Perform basic first aid, including CPR if necessary
  • Complete forms and reports accurately and legibly

Compensation and benefits are competitive with industry standards. If the substitute works or is expected to work 630 hours or more per school year, benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, and others are available through the Washington State Healthcare Authority (HCA) School Employees Benefits Board (SEBB).

Employment is contingent upon successful clearance of a Washington State Patrol, FBI fingerprint criminal history background check, and Sexual Misconduct background check.
