Job summary

Chateaugay Central School is seeking a Non-Instructional Substitute/ Substitute Bus Driver to provide safe, reliable transportation for students through the Chateaugay Transportation pool.

Applicants must hold a NY CDL with P and S endorsements and be at least 21 years old, with adherence to NYCR Title 8, 156.3 requirements. This is an as-needed substitute position within the district.

Qualifications

• Must possess NY CDL with Passenger (P) and School (S) endorsements at time of application.
• Must be at least 21 years of age at time of application.
• Must satisfy NYSCR Title 8, 156.3 requirements.

Responsibilities

• Obeys all traffic laws.
• Observes safety regulations for school buses.
• Maintains discipline when students are on bus.
• Reports undisciplined students to proper authority.
• Keeps assigned bus clean.
• Keeps to assigned schedule.
• Checks bus before operation for mechanical defects.
• Notifies proper authority in case of mechanical failure or lateness.
• Discharges students only at authorized stops.
• Exhibits leadership on out-of-district trips.
• Transports only authorized students.
• Reports all accidents and completes required reports.
• Enforces regulations against smoking and eating on the bus.
• Attends scheduled meetings for physicals, safety, and run selections.
• Observes contractual obligations.
• Performs occasional pick-up and delivery of materials for the district.
• Does related work as required.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

In School Districts:

Candidate must possess the appropriate level New York State Driver's License (CDL) with Passenger ("P") and School ("S") endorsements at the time of application and must be at least 21 years of age at the time of application.

Note:

In addition, candidates must satisfy the requirements for School Bus Driver set forth in the New York Codes, Rules and Regulation Title 8, 156.3.
