Job summary

Springfield City Schools Transportation in Springfield, Ohio is hiring a Substitute Driver to transport students to and from school and events for the 2026-2027 year. Training is provided and driving duties will adapt to district needs.

Applicants must be 21+, have 5+ years of driving experience, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a CDL with a school bus endorsement or qualification to obtain one. A clean driving record is required. This is a full-time position with on-site duties.

Qualifications

• Twenty-one (21) years of age with at least five (5) years of driving experience.

• Possess no more than four (4) points on driving record within the last three (3) years.
• Operate vehicle in accordance with traffic safety laws and pupil transportation standards.
• Safely transport students to and from school and school events.

Who We Are: The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is seekinga Substitute Driverwho are interested in helping assist withtransporting students and families thoughout our school districtfor the 2026-2027 school year. We are a nationally ranked Division I District serving approximately 7,500 Pre-K through grade 12 students, in a vibrant learning community of 17 state of the art buildings in west-central Ohio. As a Substitute Driver, you are required to:

• Possess a High School diploma or equivalent
• Be twenty-one (21) years of age with at least five (5) years of driving experience
• Possess or have qualifications to obtain a CDL license with the school bus endorsement
• Possess no more than four (4) points on driving record (abstract) within the last three (3) years from the Bureau of Motor Vehicles
• Operate vehicle in accordance with local, state, and national traffic safety laws, pupil transportation standards of the State and Local Board of Education
• Safely transport students to and from school and other school sponsored events, following established routes and schedules

As a Substitute Driver you will:

• Routes may include students with: Wheelchairs, ISS, Gifted/Talented, Work Studies, Language barriers, etc
• Routes will vary per District needs
• Driving in weather conditions
• Driving in traffic conditions
• Some lifting may be required
• Performs other duties as assigned

What We Offer:

• Training is provided by the Springfield City School District at no cost to you.
• Wage is $20.00 per hour.
• Substitutes are temporary at will employees and work on an as needed basis.
