Job summary

North St. Francois County R-I School District is seeking a Substitute Bus Driver to operate school buses from the Bus Garage, transporting students on defined routes per schedules. You will report to the Transportation Supervisor and work under the Board of Education guidelines.

The role requires a Class B CDL, a clean driving record, and the ability to pass state skill and written tests with S and P endorsements. Training is provided and safety is a priority.

SUMMARY

Drives buses to transport students over specified routes according to time schedule. Complies with traffic regulations when a regular driver is absent.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  3. Performs and properly completes daily pre-trip inspections
  4. Complies with all traffic ordinances
  5. Complies with discipline policies set forth in the School Code of Conduct

  8. Shows proficiency in handling and maneuvering school bus

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Must have no points on driving record and be able to pass physical, including drug screening.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Must be able to obtain a Commercial Driver's License Class B. Must pass State Skill Test and State Written Test and attain 'S' and 'P' endorsements.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and between series of numbers. Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

OTHER SKILLS and ABILITIES

Ability to work in a friendly manner with co-workers and students. Ability to read and understand maps. Ability to pass State Skill Test, State Written Test, Department of Transportation physical and MDE Basic Training Program. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both in oral and written form. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds such as students. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception and peripheral vision.
