Job summary

Conway Public Schools is seeking a Bus Aide to support the bus driver and ensure the safe transportation of eligible students within the Conway Public School District.

The position requires a High School diploma or GED, the ability to pass background checks, and the physical capability to lift 50 lbs and assist students on a daily basis.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED (required).
• Must pass all criminal background checks.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs or more.
• Must possess the physical ability to assist students.

Responsibilities

• Assists the bus driver in loading/unloading students, which may include operation of lifts, locking wheelchairs, securing seat belts, etc.
• Assists the students in following the directions of the bus driver.
• Assists the driver in the personal care and management of students.
• Assists in checking safety equipment daily, prior to starting the route, and ensures proper working condition of all safety equipment.
• Checks all restraints and wheelchairs securing students safely in place.
• Assists in keeping the bus clean.
• Assists the driver in enforcing the rules and regulations for the safety of all students.
• Assists the driver with behavior issues and helps to maintain a safe and orderly atmosphere on the bus.
• Is familiar with all aspects of the assigned bus route and assists substitute bus drivers.
• Follows all established rules, guidelines, policies, procedures and practices of the Conway Public School District.
• Follows the job-related instructions of the bus driver.

Terms Of Employment

The contract length each year will be for 178 days.

Evaluation

Based on district policy and Department of Education guidelines and performed by the transportation supervisor.
