About the job

Based at Mandarin Oriental New York within the Food and Beverage Department, the Substitute Bartender is responsible for assisting in the overall day-to-day operation and long-term outlook of the restaurant. The role involves creating a pleasant dining environment and providing excellent guest experiences.

The Substitute Bartender reports to the Assistant Director of In-Room Dining.

As a Substitute Bartender, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Support company's philosophy and culture through the Pillars of Legendary Quality Experiences to ensure guest satisfaction and achievement of our Mission Statement.
• Support departmental standards to ensure guest satisfaction and meet our Mission Statement.
• Follow all laws and guidelines for beverage service, including alcohol regulations and responsible serving practices.
• Prepare and serve drinks according to orders, maintain cleanliness, and ensure the bar is well-stocked with supplies and beverages.
• Maintain cleanliness of the bar area, including cleaning counters, shelves, refrigerators, and removing trash.
• Restock bar supplies, including glasses, garnishes, and beverages, and ensure proper storage and handling.
• Report suspicious activities or unsafe conditions to management.
• Provide excellent service to guests and assist with guest questions and requests.
• Possess extensive knowledge of food, beverages, liquors, and cocktails to service and upsell products.
• Attend all relevant training sessions and departmental meetings.
• Follow opening and closing duties and contribute to a positive atmosphere.

As a Substitute Bartender, we expect from you:

• Proficiency in English (reading, writing, speaking).
• Willingness to work flexible hours, including holidays.
• Self-motivated with the ability to motivate others.
• Work safely, organized, and maintain high personal hygiene standards.

Pay and Benefits:

• Hourly pay ranging from $30.65 to $40.87, depending on experience.
• Comprehensive benefits package.
