Job summary

The Marion Independent School District is seeking an Attendance Secretary to support the smooth operation of the school office and maximize educational opportunities for students. This role reports to the Building Principal and serves as the receptionist for the principal, guidance staff, and activities director.

Responsibilities include maintaining student records, attendance, registrations, filing, typing, and managing office supplies, inquiries, and visitor logs.

Qualifications

  • Previous clerical experience preferred.
  • OSHA certificate required.

  • Organizes supplies and instructional materials for distribution to teachers.
  • Keeps office supplies in order; requisitions materials upon faculty request.
  • Operates office equipment incidental to clerical duties.
  • Helps maintain a log of visitors to the school.
  • Attends to all student needs.
  • Maintain a positive attitude with students, staff, parents, and visitors.

Job Title: Attendance Secretary

Reports to: Building Principal

Starting Wage: $16.75/hr plus benefits

Basic Function: To assure the smooth and efficient operation of the school office so that the office can have a maximum positive impact on the education of children can be realized. Promote the overall mission of the school system, and work to maximize the educational opportunities available to each student.

Essential Functions:

  • Act as receptionist for the Principal, Associate Principal, Guidance Counselor, and Activities Director performing any duty delegated by any of them.
  • Supports maintaining student records: Cumulative folders, permanent records, daily attendance, aggregate attendance, registration, transfer of students, class lists, certified enrollment, etc.

The noise level in the work environment can vary based on activities taking place. The position requires the commitment of professional working hours that may require the employee to extend beyond a typical eight hour workday. The employee will frequently work in different areas of the classroom including in/at desks, on or near the floor, standing, in movement while supervising indoor and outdoor activities, etc. The employee will usually work in indoor temperatures but will work outdoors when supervising students outside of the classroom.
