Job summary

Orlando Utilities Commission is seeking a Substation Technician III in Florida. You will join a multi-person crew to maintain and test substation equipment, assist with HV/LV switching, review safety procedures, and prepare vehicles and gear for upcoming work.

The role emphasizes safety, accuracy and a proactive training mindset. The ideal candidate has relevant wiring experience, a Florida license, and CIP readiness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Possess a current and valid Florida Driver’s License.
• Minimum 18 months’ experience in commercial/industrial wiring or HV wiring, or 6 months as an OUC Apprentice Substation Technician.
• Class A CDL preferred.
• CIP clearance or ability to acquire within 6 months of hire.
• Demonstrated sign-off book and safety certifications at the Apprentice level.

Responsibilities

• Work with crews maintaining and testing all substation equipment under leadership of a Substation Technician I or Lead Substation Technician.
• Assist with high- and low-voltage switching activities under supervision.
• Review job assignments and safety procedures each morning with the lead technician.
• Prepare vehicles, tools and equipment for upcoming assignments; be responsible for assigned equipment.
• Assist with training and requirements for newer Substation Technician IIIs.
• Complete required safety and job skills trainings and participate in field sign-off book.
