Job summary

OUC - The Reliable One in Florida is seeking a Substation Technician III to join the Trans, Substation Construction & Maintenance Division. The role supports testing and maintenance of substation equipment, with supervision and training opportunities across craft ladder levels.

Ideal candidates will have a high school diploma or GED, a Florida driver’s license, and extensive experience in wiring or a demonstrated path through the OUC Apprentice Substation Technician track. CDL preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Current Florida Driver’s License.
• 18+ months of experience in commercial/industrial wiring or HV wiring, or 6+ months as OUC Apprentice Substation Technician.
• Class A CDL preferred.
• CIP clearance or ability to obtain within six months of hire.
• For demonstration of experience as an OUC Apprentice Substation Technician: Completion of sign-off book and ongoing safety certifications.

Responsibilities

• Work with crews maintaining and testing substation equipment under leadership of a Substation Technician I or Lead.
• Assist in HV and LV switching activities under supervision.
• Review job assignments and safety procedures each morning.
• Prepare vehicles and equipment for next assignment.
• Assist with training for newer Substation Technician IIIs.
• Complete required safety and job skills trainings and sign-off book.
