Job summary

Forbes Bros. Group of Companies is seeking a Substation Technician to maintain, repair, modify, replace, and install electrical equipment and electronic systems at substations.

You will work under the Substation Foreman, ensuring quality, safety, and regulatory compliance across projects. The role requires hands-on experience with transformers, bus structures, switchgear, and high-voltage environments, including reading systems maps and coordinating with field teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum of two years of substation experience or two years of heavy electrical/industrial experience.
• Experience using hand tools, small power tools, shop machines, and heavy equipment.
• OSHA 10 and/or 30 certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assist in new and/or existing construction and various tasks such as demolition, site preparation, trenching, pole setting, cable leading, and other substation-related tasks.
• Read and understand systems maps to become knowledgeable about electric distribution layout, substation capacities, and circuit feeds.
• Assist with installing transformer and transformer banks, bus structures and switchgear, lines (underground/overhead), and related substation work.
• Work with equipment such as man baskets, skid steers, shovels, backhoes, and other industry tools.
• Operate safely around energized high-voltage systems and comply with Code of Conduct and workplace policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
