The City of Garland is seeking a Substation Technician to be responsible for maintaining, constructing, and retrofitting electric substation equipment. This role involves working with high voltage equipment, including circuit breakers and transformers, and conducting general maintenance and repairs.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma, relevant experience, and a valid Texas Class C Driver’s License. The position requires occasional travel and supports 24-hour operations.
Summary: Responsible for maintaining, constructing, and retrofitting electric substation equipment, including circuit breakers, transformers, switches, battery systems, tap changers, cooling systems, lighting arresters, and other equipment. Duties also include installation of concrete foundations, support steel structures, station insulators, ground grids, and bus. Pay Range: (Depending on qualifications and experience)
Work is conducted in energized substations, switchyards, and generating plants. Majority of work is performed outdoors with frequent exposure to unpleasant environmental conditions and/or hazards.
