Job summary

Davis H. Elliot Company, Inc. in Oklahoma is seeking a Substation Superintendent to plan, coordinate, and supervise the work across several substation construction and maintenance sites.

You will lead General Foreman and Foreman teams, ensure safety, and manage project timelines while coordinating with other supervisors and staff.

Qualifications

• 8+ years construction experience with at least 3 years in a Superintendent/Leadership role on substation projects.
• Ability to supervise multiple crews across several sites.
• Knowledge of safety regulations for construction.
• Strong communication with supervisors and staff.

Responsibilities

• Plan, schedule, assign, and supervise journey-level workers on substation construction.
• Review in-progress work for adherence to specs, safety, and timelines.
• Estimate costs, manpower, and time for project completion.
• Coordinate work with other General Foremen.
• Prepare job specifications, sketches, and progress reports.
• Interpret blueprints and explain projects to staff.
• Ensure staff have tools, materials, and equipment.
• Instruct and advise staff on policy and procedures.
• Direct and/or provide training to trade staff.

Job Description

A Substation Superintendent plans, coordinates, and supervises the work of multiple General Foreman, Foreman, and skilled journey-level workers across several substation construction & maintenance sites.

Typical Duties

• Plans, schedules, assigns and supervises the work of journey-level workers of various building trades involving substation construction
• Reviews staff's in-progress work for adherence to job specifications, safety policies, and project timelines
• Estimates costs, manpower need, and time necessary for completion of various projects
• Coordinates work with other General Foreman
• Prepares job specifications, sketches, and progress reports on current construction projects
• Interprets and explains specifications, blueprints, and work projects with assigned staff
• Ensures that staff is supplied with tools, materials, and equipment for completion of assigned projects
• Instructs and advises staff on changes in policies, procedures, and work standards
• Directs and/or provides training to trade staff

Qualifications

Knowledge Of:

• Construction, maintenance, alteration, and repair of substation sites
• Current practices, materials, hand and power tools, and equipment used in substation construction
• Methods and procedures used in planning and scheduling of substation construction activities
• Safety regulations and practices pertinent to the construction industry
• Principles of supervision and training
• Recordkeeping procedures
• Methods and procedures used in planning construction projects
• Various computer application capabilities
• 8+ years construction experience with 3+ years being in a Superintendent/Leadership capacity working on substation projects
• Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others, both individually and in a team environment
