Job summary

HDR is seeking a Substation Structural EIT/Coordinator in Minnesota to support site studies, layout, grading, drainage, and project administration for civil/site projects. You will work with senior engineers on a range of assignments and may progress to advanced responsibilities as you obtain your EIT.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
• Master's degree in Structural Engineering preferred.
• EIT certificate preferred; without EIT the role is Coordinator and EIT must be obtained.
• Experience with Civil/structural design software such as MicroStation and AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with Bentley ConceptStation, Autodesk InfraWorks, Civil 3D; OpenFlows is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist Senior Engineer with site studies, designs, and documentation.
• Perform site layout, grading, utility layout and drainage.
• Complete routine engineering assignments using standard techniques.
• Manage projects and perform admin duties for civil/site work.
• Work independently on small projects or support senior engineers on larger projects.

In the role of Substation Structural EIT/Coordinator, we'll count on you to:

• Assist the Senior Engineer with site studies, site designs, contract documentation preparation and graphic presentation
• Perform overall site layout, grading, utility layout and drainage
• Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures
• Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables
• Perform administrative duties associated with project management for civil/site projects
• Work independently on small projects, or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's degree in Structural Engineering
• Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate.
• Candidates hired without their EIT will have the title of "Coordinator" and will be expected to obtain their EIT for career progression.
• Familiarity with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD, familiarity and demonstrated experience with civil engineering software such as Bentley ConceptStation and/or Autodesk Infraworks and Civil 3D; specialty civil platforms (e.g., Openflows) as required
