Job summary

Southern Company seeks an engineering leader in substations to guide complex projects, help shape design standards, and resolve technical issues across the transmission group. You will collaborate with field teams and vendors to implement equipment solutions that meet network needs.

The role emphasizes safety leadership, cross-functional teamwork, and communication across departments, with opportunities to contribute to industry committees and internal training programs.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or electric utility experience preferred.
• Autodesk experience would be beneficial.
• Experience with design, maintenance, construction, or operation of substations in electric utility environment would be beneficial.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance for major or complex projects.
• Support and participate in the development of Southern Company design standards and criteria.
• Serve as a technical resource for consistency and problem resolution.
• Serve on industry committees, providing leadership and guidance to ensure best designs are developed and applied.
• Serve as a resource for the Transmission training program and as an instructor in Transmission Technical Training classes.
