Job summary

Southern Company seeks a Substation Physical Equipment & Standards leader to guide design, operations, and field personnel. You will act as a technical resource to shape equipment product choices and standards across the utility.

The role requires leading complex projects, mentoring staff, and collaborating with vendors and industry groups to apply best designs company-wide. Strong safety and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or electric utility experience preferred.
• Autodesk experience would be beneficial.
• Experience with design, maintenance, construction, or operation of substations in the electric utility environment would be beneficial.
• Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook required.

Responsibilities

• Provide guidance for major or complex projects.
• Support and participate in developing Southern Company design standards and criteria.
• Serve as a technical resource for consistency and problem resolution.
• Participate in industry committees to ensure best designs are developed and applied for Southern Company.
• Act as a resource for the Transmission training program and serve as an instructor in Transmission Technical Training classes.
