Job Title: Substation Controls Designer 2

Position Overview:
The Substation Controls Designer 2 position requires 5-7 years of related experience and an accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering technology or an associate degree. This role is critical to Southern Company’s Transmission and Distribution Substations design.

Key Responsibilities:

• Prepare engineering drawings, specifications, and material requirements for substation projects with a focus on safety, quality, scheduling, and cost management.
• Ensure safety is a top priority, using a safety-first mentality in all tasks.
• Deliver high-quality design packages with exceptional productivity.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance for less experienced design personnel.
• Support Substation Field Services, Project Management, and other project stakeholders.
• Coordinate and communicate effectively with associated departments.
• Uphold Southern Company’s design criteria and standardization efforts.
• Contribute to storm restoration efforts as needed.

Travel Requirements:

• Approximately 25% travel is required for this position.

Required Skills and Expertise:

• Basic discipline knowledge and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to make independent decisions based on procedures, with supervisory review as needed.
