Job summary

Entergy is seeking a relay technician to perform routine and emergency maintenance on substation protective relaying and control equipment, and to assist with installation of new gear. The role requires reading electrical diagrams, understanding relay concepts, and using test equipment.

Candidates should be prepared for 24-hour callouts and complete required training modules; a TWIC card or ability to obtain one is preferred. Associate degree and related experience are favored.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and understand electrical one-line diagrams, schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Understanding of protective relaying concepts and AC/DC power systems.
• Completion of safety and training modules per the department.
• Preferred knowledge of protective relaying/SCADA/communications/substation equipment.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine and emergency maintenance on substation protective relay systems and control equipment.
• Test and troubleshoot protection equipment, panel equipment, RTUs, breakers and transformers.
• Install relays and relay panels, terminate cabling, commission and test relays.
• Switch and ground substation equipment per procedures; 24-hour callout availability.
