Job summary

The United Illuminating Company in Orange, CT is seeking an Engineer - Protection & Control to lead substation protection and control designs for major capital projects. You will work within a cross-functional project team and ensure compliance with codes, standards, and Avangrid policies.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Engineering and about 2 years in power systems; experience with schematics and one-line diagrams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering is required.
• 2 years of experience in Power Systems Electrical Engineering (Protection and Control preferred).
• Knowledge of control and protection schematics and one-line diagrams.

Responsibilities

• Project detailed engineering, designs and calculations through all phases.
• Maintain and understand drawings (schematics, one-line diagrams, etc).
• Develop and specify equipment and assemble documents for projects.
• Ensure designs meet applicable codes and standards.
• Collaborate across departments.
• Work independently as needed.
