Job summary

The United Illuminating Company in Orange, CT is seeking a Lead Engineer - Protection & Control to oversee transmission and substation protection design and ensure compliance with NERC, NPCC, NYISO, and related standards. You will set policies, procedures, and engineering activities for safe, reliable operation.

You will mentor staff, review contractor work, manage projects, and participate in audits, with occasional travels to worksites.

Qualifications

• 7+ years in protection engineering or related field.
• Expert knowledge of power system protection standards and compliance.
• Ability to document and review engineering work and processes.

Responsibilities

• Analyze protection systems for transmission and substations, including coordination and performance.
• Review and approve contractor engineering work.
• Define and update company processes to ensure regulatory compliance.
• Mentor engineers and collaborate across departments.
• Travel to worksites as needed.
