Job summary

Burns & McDonnell is seeking a Project Manager to lead electrical substations projects from concept to completion across Akron, Columbus, and St. Louis. You will manage scope, schedule, cost, and client relationships, ensuring safe, compliant delivery and on-time performance.

Responsibilities include proposals, contract negotiations, team coordination, and oversight of environmental, permitting, and design activities. Experience in T&D and strong communication are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field from an accredited program.
• Minimum 7 years of related experience, including 3+ years in PM for engineering projects in T&D.
• Master's degree may substitute for one year of experience.
• Previous consulting experience preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience producing engineering design and construction documents.
• Professional registration and/or certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare proposals and participate in contract negotiations.
• Leverage client relationships and develop repeat business.
• Manage projects from concept to completion including siting, permitting, and planning.
• Develop schedules, manage scope, and control costs.
• Own internal project financials and staffing forecasts.
• Serve as primary client contact for coordination and scope management.
• Direct and coordinate multiple disciplines on projects.
• Ensure QA/QC and timely deliverables with the project team.
• Report progress, cost, and schedule metrics to stakeholders.
• Travel to client sites as required.
