Job summary

SunEnergy1 in Georgia seeks an experienced Substation Project Manager to lead planning, execution, and commissioning of utility-scale substations, including renewable interconnections.

You will manage scope, schedule, budget, permitting, procurement and contractor coordination, ensuring compliance with IEEE/NESC and safety standards. Travel to project sites is required, with cross-functional leadership across engineering, procurement, and operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/ Civil/ Construction Management or related field.
• 5+ years of project management experience in substation or power infra.
• Knowledge of substation components (HV equipment, protection & control).
• Familiarity with permitting, environmental compliance, and utility interconnection processes.
• Proficiency in PM software (MS Project, Primavera, Procore) and Excel.
• PMP certification is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal, organizational, and leadership skills.
• Ability to travel to project sites.

Responsibilities

• Manage all phases of substation projects from engineering design through construction and energization.
• Oversee timelines, deliverables and budgets to ensure on-time, on-budget delivery.
• Coordinate with internal departments and external partners (utilities, contractors, consultants).
• Ensure compliance with codes and safety regulations (IEEE, NESC).
• Interface with regulatory agencies and permitting bodies as needed.
• Track milestones and generate status reports for leadership.
• Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, and project documentation.
• Lead weekly project meetings and drive cross-team collaboration.
• Support procurement of major equipment and ensure timely delivery.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
