Job summary

Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI) seeks a Project Engineer II to support multiple SSD project orders. You will lead design, review customer specs, and coordinate with external contractors for high voltage substation projects.

Expect hands-on task execution from design through commissioning, plus training of customers and ongoing field support. The role emphasizes advanced knowledge of substations, strong communication, and problem-solving skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering with a minimum of 5 years of experience in a project environment, or equivalent education and experience.
• Basic knowledge of real power (MW) and reactive power (Mvar).
• Advanced knowledge of substation equipment, instrumentation, structures, conductors, and relay protection and control.
• Advanced interpersonal communication and presentation skills required to communicate with customers and employees.
• Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read, understand, and create technical drawings and material.
• Advanced computer skills with emphasis on Microsoft Office products, CAD, and engineering analysis software.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and coordinate multiple components and systems of high voltage substation projects.
• Coordinate design and development work of external design contractors and engineering consultants.
• Review order documents to ensure they meet customer specifications, including exceptions and confirmations.
• Develop and execute engineering tasks related to design, construction, and testing of power electronics-based and gas-insulated substations.
• Prepare or supervise preparation of drawings and documents in support of orders.
• Provide project oversight at the installation site during construction and testing.
• Prepare and present customer training.
• Provide expertise and support in multiple disciplines to other engineers.
• Resolve customer and supplier technical questions and perform field troubleshooting.
• Support sales by reviewing customer specs and preparing technical exceptions.
