Job summary

Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI) is seeking an Engineering Section Manager to lead the engineering functions supporting substation and power infrastructure design projects within our Substation Division.

You will oversee multidisciplinary engineering teams, external design partners, and equipment suppliers to ensure projects are completed safely, accurately, efficiently, and in accordance with customer requirements and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or related field and seven+ years of experience in power infrastructure projects, with engineering management experience.
• Advanced knowledge of substation and power infrastructure design, and IEEE standards relevant to clearances, equipment, and testing.
• Ability to read, interpret, and approve complex electrical and mechanical drawings.
• Proven leadership to develop and motivate engineering professionals while managing multiple projects and resources.
• Strong communication skills with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering activities for substation and infrastructure design projects and review designs, drawings, and calculations.
• Develop and lead the engineering team through coaching, training, and performance reviews; participate in hiring and compensation input.
• Ensure QA/QC of deliverables by cross-functional teams and improve processes for quality and efficiency.
• Provide technical resources for development and project engineering, and track engineering hours to meet deadlines.
• Support sales and customers by interpreting specifications and ensuring solutions meet standards.
• Collaborate with Quality Assurance and Service to resolve customer and supplier quality concerns.
• Prepare and manage project budgets and forecast resource requirements.
• Represent MEPPI in industry forums and lead technical papers or presentations.
• Coordinate with Mitsubishi Electric Corporation and global partners as needed.
