Job summary

Westinghouse Electric Company LLC is seeking a Substation Project Engineer for a 1-year contract in Florida, with location in Juno Beach and the option for remote work. You will lead a team of engineers and specialists to execute renewable generation substations from conception to commissioning, with occasional travel across North America.

The role requires a PE, Six Sigma Yellow Belt, and project-management experience, plus a degree in Electrical/Mechanical/Civil engineering.

• Represent E&C interests in progress reviews and risk mitigation.
• Travel to substations across North America as needed.

About the role:

We're looking for a Substation Project Engineer on behalf of our client. This is a 1-year contract assignment.(W-2) The Engineering & Construction Business Unit is looking for a Substation Project Engineer to join their team in Juno Beach Office, FL. You will lead a team of engineers and technical specialists that perform engineering functions. Responsible all assigned renewable generation substation projects from conception (Early Stage) through construction and commissioning (Execution).

You will evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform a task or sequence of tasks for conventional renewable generation substation projects.

This Substation project engineering position will occasionally require driving to multiple renewable generation substations projects across Florida. You will report to the onsite manager.

Location: Juno Beach, FL preferred but open to Remote

Key Responsibilities:

• In the conceptual phase, you will work with the Early-Stage Project Manager to support the engineering requirements and scope with the Development Group. Projects can begin as FERC 1000 transmission project proposals, or as greenfield projects
• Develop detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans, and status report.
• Conducts project meetings and be responsible for project tracking and analysis.
• Provides information to internal and external clients on moderate to complex issues.
• Coordinate with other project team members to develop and secure a substation site, support any engineering updates, data and permits necessary to design and build the substation.
• Coordination with other groups to ensure that the assigned E&C renewable generation substation projects are successful. Generally responsible for representing E&C's internal and external interests on assigned projects, including presentations/briefing on current progress, issues, and risk mitigation in meetings with various levels of management.

Qualifications:

• Certified Professional Engineer (PE)
• Six Sigma Yellow Belt Certified
• Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Mechanical or Civil/Structural engineering
• 4+ years' experience in Substation design and engineering of High Voltage substation projects is helpful.
• Project Engineering and Project Management experience with.
• PMP and/or P.E. in related discipline. Some travel required within North America.
