Job summary

Kimley-Horn's Philadelphia, PA office is seeking a Substation Physical Designer with 4+ years of experience to join the Power Delivery team. This is not a remote position.

You will develop physical layouts, grounding and lightning protection studies, and construction drawing packages, coordinating with protection, civil, structural, and electrical disciplines.

The ideal candidate brings solid substation design skills and can manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of relevant experience in substation design.
• Associates degree in engineering or drafting preferred.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, MicroStation and Inventor.
• Experience with grounding, lightning protection and lighting studies.

Responsibilities

• Perform HV and MV substation physical/electrical design for utilities and substations.
• Develop basic layout, electrical arrangement, and drawings.
• Create and review bills of materials for substation projects.
• Perform engineering studies and calculations.
• Lead quality control reviews on substation design projects.
• Coordinate with protection, civil, structural, and electrical teams.
• Support junior staff with technical guidance and training.
• Communicate with clients to meet project objectives.
