Description

Title: Substation Physical Designer

Location: Remote US

ICF is seeking a Substation Physical Designer to work on the physical layout design of high voltage substations at voltages from 12kV to 500kV, aiming to deliver excellent quality work for our clients.

Responsibilities

• Design and prepare substation drawings such as One Lines, General Arrangements, Electrical Details, Grounding, Conduit, Control Cubicle Layouts, Low-Voltage Panels, Lightning Protection, Illumination, etc.
• Develop Bill of Materials based on design criteria
• Coordinate with protection & controls, civil/structural, and drafting disciplines
• Participate in client meetings and site visits
• Incorporate vendor information into designs
• Follow client standards and QA/QC processes
• Engage in continuous professional improvement

Minimum Qualifications

• Associate’s degree in Drafting or high school diploma with 2+ years of drafting coursework or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience in substation physical design using Inventor 3D, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, and MicroStation

Preferred Skills

• Ability to prioritize multiple projects
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Degree in Computer Aided Design
• Experience with Autodesk Inventor for 3D modeling
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
• Knowledge of substation design principles and technical drawing production
• Understanding of engineering science and equipment integration
